Even in the winter, I make a point of getting outside to play every day with my kids. It’s usually the hardest to convince myself to get out there, but once we’re out, it’s always worth it for that fresh air! The only problem is trying to convince my kids to go home when my toes are about to freeze off for good. The solution: a promise of hot cocoa!
With this kid-friendly hot cocoa recipe I never feel bad about giving them a little cup of sweetness to warm up. This usually makes enough for the two of them to share so they’re only having a small cup anyways. Raw cacao is an amazing source of magnesium, which is essential for just about everything in the body. It’s also a great source of iron which is so important for growing kids! Adding in the Mighty Maca from Wildflower Superfoods also adds a little reishi mushroom powder to help maintain a thriving immune system throughout the winter. But if you don’t have any on hand, just omit it or add an additional teaspoon of cacao.
I hope you and your kids enjoy this after a day of winter fun! Let me know what you think in the comments below!
